NEWS – TRAVEL TECHNOLOGY RETURNS TO LONDON TECHNOLOGY WEEK
Leading travel technology provider Open Destinations has once again joined forces with Travolution and new sponsor Ve Interactive to put travel technology on the agenda at London Technology Week. The session, entitled Travel Technology: Disruptions in the Supply Chain, will bring together industry leaders and the start-up community to join in a panel discussion about new entrants in the travel industry supply chain. The event will also feature presentations from the hotel and tour operating sectors, including Andreas Nau, Expedia’s Managing Director for Central Europe.
‘Last year we said we felt strongly that travel should have a presence, as it’s a very important vertical in London’s tech scene,’ says Lee Hayhurst, Editor of Travolution.
‘Well this year that’s even more the case as it’s seen the opening of London & Partners’ TravelTech Lab in its offices next to City Hall. This initiative is part of the Mayor of London’s intention to make the capital the world’s hub for travel technology, an ambition we at Travolution wholeheartedly support.’
‘The UK is a hub for travel technology,’ says Open Destinations’ CEO, Kevin O’Sullivan. ‘We’ve grown our business in the worldwide marketplace and we’ve seen a rise of over 53% in international sales in the past two years.’ Open Destinations was recently recognised as one of eight technology companies in the Sunday Times BT Business SME Export Track 100, which ranks the top 100 small and medium-sized companies (SME) with the fastest-growing overseas sales.
